Veneer headboard to sexy headboard

Another great deal we found on Craigslist, a cheap plastic veneer maple colored headboard and full size frame. Overall cost, $40. Of course, that maple had to go, didn't match anything in our house. Means we need to redo it. We searched online how the best way to refinish plastic veneer without ruining it.

After some research, we found that Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3 Primer/Sealer was the way to go. The stuff works on anything. We put two coats of the primer on it. We aren't fans of Behr paint, but we were looking for cheap, so at the Home Depot employee's recommendation, we bought the Mickey Mouse Ears color Behr paint. Turned out pretty good, two coats and it turned into a sexy headboard you would have no clue was painted. All we need now is a boxspring and mattress.
