We are slowly bringing our outdated bathrooms to the modern age. We are starting with our guest bath first as that isn't a complete gut. We are keeping the tub and surround, but plan to replace the faucet and shower head. Here is our before:
You can't tell, the wall is a light violet color |
Starting the renovation. Removed the vanity, mirror and cabinet. Toilet took some time as the water was hard to turn off.
We went to our favorite paint store (luckily they had a sale going!) and bought some ceiling paint and a gallon Emerald paint (as it's mildew resistant).
We also found some fantastic flooring options at Lowe's. The old floor was vinyl peel and stick kind. We happened to find some nicer Armstrong vinyl tile that you can grout to make it look like real tile, all the while saving us some cash.
We chose the Crescendo Marble Gray Marble pattern. |
Peeling off the old peel and stick was a lot of work, but worth it since it was gross.
Grouting |
We waited 24 hours before finishing up the rest of it.
Before and After |
We also decided on some PVC beadboard to go around the bathroom to protect the walls. It was easy to install and the baseboard could also be used on the top. To cut the holes for the outlet and toilet, just a normal utility knife did the trick.
Adding the beadboard |
We installed a nice smaller vanity with matching mirror we found at Lowes. It makes the bathroom feel larger.
Plumbing all done
Next was the backsplash, we picked similar marble tile to match the floor with a pencil sized marble top.
Looking good
We then grouted the tile with a bright white unsanded grout to not scratch the marble. Turned out nice. |
We added a bit of decoration. We found a shelf with some hooks for towels. Also found a cute shadow box where we added a starfish. We plan to post the final pictures once everything is installed. We are awaiting the cabinet over the toilet to complete everything.
