Raised Garden Bed

We finally bought a tiller to get the garden ready. After some tilling, we measured our space and headed off to the local home improvement store (should buy stock) to have them cut the pieces we needed, we bought some landscaping fabric, stain, fast set cement and some pretty fence post solar lights.

First we dug the four post holes and ensured that the post were about the same height and level, we then added some of the fast set cement and some water, we stirred up the cement around the post and braced them.

While waiting for the cement to cure, we started on staining the wood. We chose cedar, since that is what we will be staining our deck soon.

We did two coats of the stain. Finally got to put it together! We pre-drilled the holes and then used deck screws to hold it together. We then filled it with some awesome Miracle-Gro garden soil, normal topsoil didn't look nice.

We bought marigolds to keep the bugs out of the garden. We are growing Big Boy tomatoes, Roma tomatoes, tomatillos, jalapenos, Anaheim peppers cucumbers, cantaloupe, and bell peppers.

Finished product, complete with the solar lights and plants and cages.

We also have some deck planters with herbs that are also in the same cedar color. We are growing two different mints, rosemary, sage, basil and cilantro.
