Our friend wanted to redo her main floor guest room and asked for our help to redo it, afterall, we have all the tools to do it. We forgot to take before pictures, but her walls were a burnt orange/peachy color with a couple spots of older paint peaking through...lavender and red. The molding was put on poorly with wood glue, some of it was seeping out the top. The floor was an dirty off white tile with grout to match that was cracking. The toilet was also an off white with a cracked toilet seat. The pedestal sink didn't match. It was basically an old bathroom in need of some updating.
Our friend decided to replace the icky toilet with a nice new double flush toilet. That piece inspired the rest of the bathroom. She found marble tile she really liked at Lowe's. We took to our paint store of choice, Sherwin Williams, she chose a grey called Porpoise...We found a slightly damaged sink/vanity and mirror combo the color she wanted along with a faucet.
We demoed the bathroom, scrapping up the old mortar wasn't too bad. Removing the sink and toilet was easy. We filled any holes with Spackle and sanded. We then painted and we pre-laid the tile and made notes of what piece went where and cut the tiles to size. I then laid the tile using a fast set mortar. The next day, we used epoxy white grout. The idea for this is that it is waterproof and stain proof. Great for a bathroom and house with pets.
Installing the vanity and sink was a quick process. We had to call in a plumber to do the toilet since the bolts weren't long enough and we didn't have the proper tools. But it all turned out fantastic.
