Carpet in a bathroom, why?!!!

It took some time, but we finally pulled up the rest of that icky carpet in the master bath and closet. Whoever thought that putting carpet in a bathroom was a good idea? We decided that laminate flooring that matches our real wood flooring would be perfect. We figured the closet would be permanent as the area in the bathroom not so much as the whole master bath needs a makeover later.

Before we installed the floor, we decided that the sky blue bathroom and weird peachy color in the closet and outer bathroom area had to go. We had some extra paint from when we painted the bedrooms, so we got all our extra painting supplies (come in handy huh?) and painted that before hand.

Gross huh?

We headed to our nearest Lumber Liquidators, we were able to get some laminate that matched and was also discontinued, meaning saving us some extra cash. They gave us the plastic membrane and foam padding as part of the deal.

Installing isn't hard because it's a floating floor. First we laid the plastic membrane, overlapping the seams and taping them together with the tape they provided. Next we laid the foam layer, matching the seams this time and taping them together as well. We started laying the laminate pieces row by row, making them staggered as to no seam in the pieces matched up. They snap into each other so it was almost like Lego no glue required just a rubber mallet to hit them in place. We used the miter saw to cut any pieces to length. After laying the floor, we added some molding and transition piece from the carpet to the newly installed flooring.
